The Mayor’s Challenge (2011-2012)

At our October 3 welcoming ceremony, Mayor Nutter challenged us to meet or exceed his stated goal of reducing energy use in city buildings by 10-30 percent. A team of our students has taken him up on this challenge! The group has already conducted an analysis of energy use in our building, and identified several strategies for dramatically reducing our energy consumption. (As an added benefit, these reductions will cut our utilities costs as well.) The team is currently conducting cost-benefit analyses to determine which investments will yield the biggest efficiency gains. This project is ongoing.
