Why does Real World Learning matter?
Research shows us that participation in Internships
and other work-related learning experiences can help
high school students do better academically,
earn more postsecondary credentials, and work and earn more after graduation.
Through these experiences young people make
connections to caring adults, learn to function
effectively in non-school settings, and begin to see
themselves in new, more positive ways.
Ms. Candace Eaton,
Real-World Learning Director
In her role as the Real World Learning Director, Ms. Candace supports the learning that happens outside of the traditional classroom environment (field trips, worksite visits, dual enrollment, and internships). She also works to bring the “real world” into the classroom through panel discussions, professional development workshops, and consulting sessions with local professionals.
