Carfax Report Missed Previous Accident History

Before buying a used vehicle, I checked the Carfax report because I wanted to avoid hidden problems or expensive repairs later. The report looked clean enough at the time, so I felt reasonably confident moving forward with the purchase. After taking the car to a mechanic later, I learned there were signs of previous accident repairs that never appeared in the report. That immediately made me question how complete and reliable vehicle history reports actually are. I understand these services depend on available records, but buyers still expect major incidents to show up accurately. Now I’m dealing with repair concerns I specifically tried to avoid before buying the car. Has anyone else discovered missing accident history after using Carfax?

Good morning, my cousin recently started shopping for a used car and became obsessed with checking vehicle history reports before making any decision. He kept saying there was no way he’d buy anything without knowing about accidents, repairs, or previous owners first. While researching one car, he had trouble accessing part of the report and ended up searching for carfax customer support because he wanted to understand why some information wasn’t loading correctly.
